EasyShare v1.2.2
A new version of EasyShare is ready for download in the Android Market. Here's what's new:
- Added an option (Menu -> Settings -> Barcode settings) to set QRCode as the default sharing method. This is useful if you generate a lot of QR codes. When this option is checked, a QR code will be generated automatically without going through the "share via" menu when you share an app (link), contact, bookmark, etc.
- A new FAQ page is available here, and is added to the help page.
- Some other minor improvements and bug fixes.
A bug is found in the Motorola Droid X and Droid 2, which affects the sharing of contacts. If you try to share a contact synchronized from Facebook or Exchange, it may pull the wrong information from another contact. This bug is introduced in the customized layer on the two Motorola devices, so I can't fix it. A workaround is to create the contact you want to share on your phone (or in Google Contacts) and share that new contact. Please read the FAQ for more information.

EasyShare v1.2.1
A new version of EasyShare is now available on the Android market, and it brings a very cool feature. Here's what's new:
- New: share application packages. Instead of just sharing links to apps, now you can also share application packages (i.e., apk files). In order to use this feature, long-press on an application in the list, and select "Share APK". Then you may share APKs via email or bluetooth. However, there are a few things to know when using this feature.
- You will NOT be able to share application packages for private apps (even if they are free) or paid apps. For these apps, the "Share APK" option is unavailable and will be hidden in the context menu.
- Froyo is required to share (and to receive) APKs via bluetooth.
- Application packages can be quite large, therefore, it may take a long time to send the APK files as email attachments. The upload process may time out or fail, depending on your network condition.
- When you long-press on an app, there a "Manage" option that will take you to the application management screen. This feature was broken in Froyo and is now fixed in this release.
Here are some screenshots showcasing the new "share apk" feature:

About QR Code
A QR Code is a two dimensional barcode that stores various types of information. For example, the QR Code below contains a hyperlink to the EasyShare page on the Android Market:
EasyShare can generate and scan QRCodes using the ZXing open-source barcode image processing library. You can also represent contact information in a QR Code, and put it on a business card or web site. When you scan it with Barcode Scanner, the results screen provides a choice of actions:
QR Codes can contain the following types of information:
- Hyperlinks (URLs), which you can open in a web browser
- Contact information, which you can add to your address book
- Calendar events, which you can add to your Calendar
- Phone numbers, which you can dial
- SMS numbers, which you can text message
- Email addresses, which you can email
- Geographic coordinates, which you can open in Maps
- Plain text, which you can read, then share with a friend

EasyShare Released on Android Market
EasyShare is a simple application that allows you to share resources on your phone with others through text messages, emails, QR Codes, and more.
Currently, EasyShare supports the sharing of these resource types:
- Third-party applications.
- Contacts in your Google account.
- Gallery pictures.
- Music songs.
- Browser bookmarks.
- Your geographic location.
- Text on the clipboard.
- Any notes that you type.
For certain resource types, EasyShare offers additional functionality through context and option menus. For instance, you can perform a long press on an item in the application list to manage that application.
EasyShare uses the ZXing open-source barcode image processing library to generate and scan barcodes. It allows you to share links to web pages from the browser or videos from YouTube via QR Codes. To use this feature, bring up the share menu from other applications and choose EasyShare. When the QR Code is displayed, you may share it, save it to the SD card, or show it to your friends so that they scan it with their phones.
